Neutral Low-Key Thanksgiving Tablescape

Hey, beautiful friends! I have to tell y’all, last week’s “real life” house tour just made my heart burst reading all of your sweet comments and messages. It’s not always easy to put our flaws and all out there in perfect social media land for the world to see, but y’all made me feel good about it.

We’ve cleaned up a little bit for today’s post though. At least, in our breakfast nook anyway while we’re still juggling bathroom and dining room makeover progress. (#DIYerProblems)

In the midst of painting walls and sanding furniture, decorating is always how I can clear my head and create because it fuels my soul, so that’s what I did in planning this year’s Thanksgiving table.

But really, any dinner where Robert, Olivia, and I turn on some Zac Brown Band and light candles on the table is always a cozy one, even if it is on a random Monday night.

I’m joining in with Lory from Designthusiasm and a group of talented blogger friends to share all of our Thanksgiving entertaining ideas (you can see theirs at the end of this post). If you’re visiting from My Soulful Home, welcome!

I was in Trader Joe’s the other day stocking up on more snacks than this house probably needs, and they had the cutest baby boos. So I snatched up a few along with a bundle of eucalyptus (my fave Trader Joe’s sercy).

I found this $10 plaid tablecloth at HomeGoods the same day too, and even though these melamine charger plates came from the clearance aisle at Pier 1 because they’re technically meant for outdoors, they sort of reminded me of white pumpkins.

I’ve had these linen napkins for a year now, and I use them all the time because they work for any time of year. Neutrals aren’t boring; they’re versatile, am I right?

They stay in my decor capsule at all times along with these brass candlesticks I got for $2 each this summer. Classic for the win!

This year, most of our family will not be able to make it for Thanksgiving (and we’re kind of sad about it), but a low-key Thanksgiving is every bit as special.

To keep these baby boos looking fresh until Turkey Day, I plan to dip them in bleach and spray them with a coat of polycrylic. And I can dry the eucalyptus to keep it around until the big day.

The rest of the fall decor in our breakfast nook is just this autumn vegetable tea towel I put in a poster frame…

…and these fall flowers I got on sale at Michael’s for our repurposed banister planter.

I guess before I get too excited, we should get through Halloween first. 😉

  1. Lauren, your neutral table is the definition of simple elegance!! Love the candlesticks, and I’m crazy about the washed linen napkins. I know it’s a simple thing but I just love their relaxed attitude. Perfection!!

  2. Lauren your table is so pretty! And I have to share something – I had those same chargers in my hands earlier last week and almost bought them! AND I have those candlesticks – they look so good as part of this table. Clearly you and I are on the same page:)

Your mix of pale autumn colors in the plaid and your white pumpkins is such a soft version of fall – just love it!

  3. Hi Lauren, I just love your home! This table is simply beautiful. I am on my way to Pier 1 today to get those adorable charger plates! Also, I was at Ikea yesterday to test a new chair for my living room, the Stocksund. Upon my return home, I checked Pinterest to see it in a home setting and what do I see? You have it!! I’m getting 2 of them in the light gray. Love, love everything you do!! Love Stella, too!! (Instagram follower here.) xoxoxo
